ABOUT NQT's EDUCATION ASSISTANT
Obie Award-winning National Queer Theater seeks part-time Education Assistant to assist with Staging Pride: Queer Youth Theater, a free after school drama program for LGBTQ+ teens in NYC at the Hetrick-Martin Institute (2 Astor Place, New York, NY).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Education Assistant Duties include:
Assist in recruitment, selection, curriculum development, and evaluation for Staging Pride: Queer Youth Theater after school program.
Assist Teaching Artists for Staging Pride: Queer Youth Theater program inside and outside of the classroom.
Plan and coordinate field trips and Masterclasses.
Support planning and production of student-devised performances.
Coordinate other community initiatives with the Artistic Director. Attend NQT events and outside plays.
WORK HOURS
Part-time (10 hours per week/ Occasional nights) In-person classes typically 4-7pm Mondays and Wednesdays
Hybrid- working in-person in New York City 2 days per week and working remotely 1-2 days per week, depending on events.
SKILLS REQUIRED
At least 1 year experience teaching at-risk youth.
Experience working directly with LGBTQ+ youth preferred.
Knowledge of public schools, nonprofit arts, and social services in NYC.
Google G Suite (docs, drive, gmail) Strong writing skills
Organized, works well independently and collaborates with others
Experience and passion for LGBTQ issues, community organizing, and performing arts are strongly preferred.
DURATION
Start January 2, 2026
SALARY
$20 per hour for 10 hours per week.
