About the position:

The part-time Marketing Coordinator will oversee and execute the marketing of the organization with Founding Artistic Director Adam Odsess-Rubin and Business Manager yoshi kuroi. Reporting to the Artistic Director, they will cooperate in a small team of part-time staff, interns, and volunteers, and will be integral in growing the company in a formative period. With an annual budget of $200,000, NQT is a small but quickly growing company, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

The position starts May 1, 2022 beginning with a three-month trial period evaluated by the Artistic Director. Default working hours for National Queer Theater are 10am-6pmEST with some nights and weekends. This position will be part remote and part in-person, with some flexibility.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Promote all NQT productions, readings, classes, and programs across our primary channels: social media (Instagram and Facebook), website, email marketing, and paid social media advertising.

  • Secure $20,000 in earned income, including ticket sales, donations, and merchandise.

  • Develop and send biweekly email newsletters through Mailchimp showcasing NQT productions and programs.

  • Create marketing plans for all shows and initiatives, incorporating the needs and contributions of key stakeholders, and setting measurable sales and community-building goals.

  • Collaborate with community and organizational partners to cross-promote events or opportunities.

  • Manage social media marketing across NQT Facebook and Instagram with the goal of growing followers and engagement by 25% each year, with support from Artistic Engagement Intern.

  • Design graphic images for all NQT projects, including show posters, fliers, and digital graphics.

  • Update and maintain www.nationalqueertheater.org website weekly, and as needed.

  • Hire and manage freelance graphic designers and interns as needed.


An ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong passion for theater, marketing, and/or community organizing.

  • Experience working in intersectional LGBTQ communities.

  • Strong graphic and web design skills.

  • The ability to communicate and collaborate closely with a small team.

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

  • Commitment to anti-racist and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in Canva or other design software, Google products, Mailchimp, and social media marketing.

Pay:

$17 per hour for 10 hours per week on a 1099 with opportunities for growth.
