Job Description: The Artistic Engagement and Education Interns will assist the Artistic Director and Producing Director with the daily tasks of running the theater, including public programming and community initiatives. These positions are hybrid- working in-person in New York City 1-2 days per week and working remotely 1-2 days per week, depending on events.


Artistic Engagement Intern Duties include:

  • Implement marketing activities such as e-blasts, social media, partner marketing.

  • Assist in production of staged readings, workshops and productions, including casting, producing, and evaluation.

  • Play central role in planning activities related to Fall Mainstage show- a new play at a venue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

  • Attend NQT events and outside plays.

  • Coordinate NQT Artistic Collective, a group of diverse multidisciplinary artists evaluating and planning new play production.


Education Intern Duties include:

  • Implement marketing activities such as e-blasts, social media, and community partnerships.

  • Assist in recruitment, selection, curriculum development, and evaluation for Staging Pride: Queer Youth Theater and DREAMing Out Loud programs.

  • Assist Teaching Artists for Staging Pride: Queer Youth Theater, including providing food and MetroCards for classes. Help plan and coordinate field trips and Masterclasses.

  • Assist Teaching Artist and Program Manager in implementation of Write It Out! Workshops and prizes for artists living with HIV.

  • Attend NQT events and outside plays.

  • Coordinate other community initiatives with the Artistic Director.



Interns will gain skills and mentorship in artistic production, literary management, company management, fundraising, event management, education/applied theater, and marketing.

Skills required: Google G Suite (docs, drive, gmail), strong writing, organized, works well independently and collaborating with others. Experience and passion for LGBTQ issues, community organizing, and performing arts are strongly preferred.
